Aspen delivery is Zone C — $750 each way for the 69-mile run from our Gypsum yard. Downtown work usually calls for a short storage box or 20 ft office, while larger sites can compare every available family in the price table near the end.
Does Aspen's construction plan need to show the unit?
Treat a rented office or storage box as part of staging and show it on the plan. The City of Aspen says a Construction Management Plan is required with the building permit and addresses staging, parking, haul routes and hours.
Disturbance sets the filing level. Per the City of Aspen Engineering and Building Department pages, projects below 1,000 square feet may file a Small Project Acknowledgement, projects from 1,000 through 2,000 square feet file a Medium Project Checklist, and larger projects submit a full Construction Management Plan.
The city also offers an online certification course for contractors preparing these plans. Building permits inside city limits go through the City of Aspen Building Department within Community Development, while sites outside the city go through Pitkin County Community Development.
Draw the unit at its actual dimensions and include its door swing. Mark the delivery approach, temporary parking controls and the lane our truck needs for pickup, because a rectangle that fits on paper may still block site circulation.
Construction inside Aspen runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no Sunday construction, according to the city. Coordinate our arrival with the approved hours and keep the unloading lane clear before the truck reaches town.
Downtown alleys and West End residential streets leave little room for improvisation. A box in a street or public right-of-way requires permission that you obtain under Rental Agreement §5, and we place it only where your authorized representative directs.
Walk the plan with the superintendent, owner and traffic lead before reservation. Confirm who controls an alley, whether parked vehicles can be removed, where pedestrians move and whether the truck can approach the pad in one straight line.
The City of Aspen is a home rule city and the Pitkin County seat. That distinction matters when a project is described as Aspen but the parcel lies beyond city limits, so verify jurisdiction before relying on city forms.
Why does every delivery come through Glenwood Canyon?
Our truck leaves Gypsum, follows I-70 west through Glenwood Canyon to Glenwood Springs, then travels Colorado 82 past Carbondale and Basalt. It passes the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport and the Maroon Creek and Castle Creek roundabout before entering town.
That is the only truck route. Independence Pass east of Aspen reaches 12,095 ft, closes in winter, and is closed to vehicles 35 ft or longer throughout the year, per CDOT.
CDOT closed the pass on November 17, 2025 for the 2025–26 season and reopened it May 21, 2026. Our tilt-bed and unit exceed the length restriction even when the road is open, so we never route a delivery over the pass.
Glenwood Canyon has been subject to safety closures since the 2020 Grizzly Creek Fire. CDOT closes I-70 during flash-flood warnings over the burn scar and after rockfall or debris flows.
When a canyon closure occurs before departure, our truck stays in Gypsum. We text you and reschedule, no trip fee applies because the failed-delivery charge only arises once the truck reaches your site, and a road closure is an event beyond our reasonable control under Rental Agreement §23.
A failed site delivery is different. If the truck arrives but cannot set because access, site weather, pad conditions or the required representative is not ready, that trip and the following trip are charged under Rental Agreement §5.
At 69 miles each way, Aspen is the far end of the Roaring Fork run in Zone C, and the same fee covers the 51-mile run to Basalt. Standard scheduling is a 2–4 week delivery window from reservation rather than a promised clock time.
Only the 20 ft Base office qualifies for JOLT Express. The $750 option puts that office on site within 7 business days, subject to the same safe route and prepared-site requirements.
What fits a downtown lot or an airport-area site?
Use the smallest unit that supports the actual work sequence. A 10 ft storage container gives half the floor of a 20 ft box, plus a side man door, barred window and end cargo doors.
The 12 ft storage container remains 8 ft wide and adds the same walk-in pattern at a longer length. It works as a controlled tool crib where workers need frequent access without opening the cargo doors each time.
A 20 ft storage container suits material packages and locked tools when about 70 ft of straight unloading clearance is available. It is a one-trip, standard-height box with 4 lock bars, a welded lockbox, no windows and no man door.
Reserve the 40 ft high-cube storage container for a site along Colorado 82 or in the airport business area that can hold about 100 ft of straight truck clearance. Its 9 ft 6 in height and double the 20 ft floor area come with a 3-month minimum.
The 20 ft office family often gives an Aspen superintendent the useful middle ground. Each tier uses an 8 ft by 8 ft 6 in ISO shell with a 36-inch steel personnel door, two barred slider windows, vinyl-plank floor, lighting, outlets and mini-split heating and cooling.
An Alpine office includes the Grid-Free solar array, 10 kWh battery, camera and Starlink, then adds backup heat, a standing-seam over-roof and a covered entry deck. Its matte black finish with cedar surrounds works for a visible site.
The Grid-Free office includes WATCH, CONNECT and POWER with a 10 kWh battery that runs HVAC. It does not need shore power, which helps when permanent electrical service trails the building schedule.
A 40 ft office with bathroom provides an enclosed bathroom at the far end. Read what a ground-level office is, then compare the two office lengths in the 20 ft versus 40 ft office guide before assigning scarce staging space.
| Aspen site pattern | Likely unit | Critical check |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown alley remodel | 10 ft or 12 ft storage | Door swing and truck alignment |
| West End residential work | 20 ft office | Approved staging and 70 ft lane |
| Airport-area laydown yard | 40 ft storage or office | 100 ft straight clearance |
| Utility service delayed | 20 ft Grid-Free office | Solar and satellite sky view |
How do you keep an Aspen site working through winter?
Aspen sits at 8,000 ft, per USGS GNIS, and snow spans much of the construction calendar. Keep the pad drained and level before freezing weather, then preserve the delivery and pickup lane instead of using it for plowed snow.
The Base office uses a mini-split connected through its 50-amp shore-power inlet. READY adds a plan table, 2 chairs, whiteboard, mini-fridge, microwave and 1,500 W heater for $125/mo.
Alpine adds backup heat and an over-roof to Grid-Free, but the customer still clears snow and ice. Both tiers can run HVAC from their built-in battery, while solar exposure remains a site condition rather than a promise.
A trailer-mounted ground heater circulates hydronic heat through insulated hose to thaw ground or cure concrete in season. A light tower raises 4 LED floodlights to about 30 ft for short December-to-March workdays.
Plan snow storage before delivery instead of after the first storm. Keep it away from doors, the roof edge, fence stands, trailer tongues and the straight retrieval lane.
The 6 ft by 10 ft panels in temporary fence create a defined laydown area on steel tube stands. They can separate deliveries, waste and pedestrian movement when the approved staging plan leaves enough level ground.
Traffic control can support a planned access lane with Basic, Standard or Full sets. Basic includes 25 cones, 6 Type II barricades and 2 sign stands, while Full adds a solar arrow board and 2 flashing barricade lights to the Standard package.
A portable hand-wash station may be ordered with any unit or by itself. Place it where winter service access remains possible and where it does not narrow the truck route.
Which power and security options belong on finish work?
A Base or 40 ft office needs shore power for its installed electrical systems. Grid-Free and Alpine carry their own solar array and 10 kWh battery; POWER can support Starlink, the camera, lights and laptops on Base, but not its mini-split.
CONNECT supplies Starlink Mini, a router and 50 GB Roam. Give its antenna open sky and keep future roofs, cranes and material stacks out of the planned view.
WATCH adds a solar LTE camera with motion alerts and cloud clips. It can monitor an approach to high-value finish storage, but LTE performance depends on the site and the camera does not transfer theft risk.
The practical steps in securing a jobsite from theft begin with controlled keys, a clear door area and deliberate camera placement. Theft remains excluded from the damage waiver under Rental Agreement §12.
JOLT PACK combines WATCH, CONNECT and POWER for $699/mo on compatible offices and storage boxes. Grid-Free and Alpine already have all three and may take READY, a second camera or unlimited Starlink.
Put the camera view on the route people use rather than an attractive wide shot. Avoid door leaves, overhangs and planned material racks, and post the recording notices the law requires at the site; those notices and consents are yours under Rental Agreement §13.
For a 40 ft office, understand the delivery burden before adding services. The answer on 40 ft office weight helps frame why a level pad and a long, unobstructed approach matter.
What does the Aspen season cost from delivery through pickup?
Aspen has a Zone C delivery fee of $750 and the same $750 pickup fee. ZIP code determines the zone, while an address outside the listed towns receives a quote by text.
| Zone | Towns | Delivery | Pickup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zone A | Gypsum, Eagle, Edwards, Avon, Beaver Creek | $400 | $400 |
| Zone B | Vail, Minturn, Glenwood Springs | $550 | $550 |
| Zone C | Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, Keystone, Carbondale, Basalt, Aspen, Snowmass | $750 | $750 |
| Zone D | Steamboat Springs, Leadville, Grand Junction | $950 | $950 |

Rent only, plus applicable sales tax. Damage waiver 12% and environmental fee 5% are added to rent; delivery is by zone.
A 20 ft Alpine office for the 3-month minimum is $1,895/mo rent, $750 delivery and $750 pickup. Add the 12% damage waiver and 5% environmental fee on rent and recurring upgrades, plus sales tax.
The reservation deposit applies to the first invoice under Rental Agreement §2. Rent is due for the full minimum term even if you finish early, then rolls month to month until 15 days' written notice and retrieval.
Each anniversary of delivery increases the rate by 5%. Compare recurring and trip charges on the pricing schedule, and use the exact ZIP in the delivery-zone table.
The damage waiver is 12% of rent plus recurring upgrades. Its exclusions include theft; the alternative is a refundable one-month rent deposit plus a certificate of insurance.
Pickup needs the same advance planning as delivery. Under Rental Agreement §16, rent continues until retrieval, and a failed pickup caused by blocked access, site conditions or an unready unit adds that trip fee and the next one.
How do you reserve an Aspen unit?
Reserve through the main reservation form or the quote form further down the page. Enter the placement ZIP, choose a unit, name the authorized site representative and provide approach photos before selecting a delivery window.
Review how the process works, the Colorado service map and nearby access patterns in Snowmass. That preparation helps us identify alley, roundabout, overhead and staging issues before dispatch.
Your deposit is applied to the first invoice. Cancel by written notice more than 14 days before the first day of the window without charge; cancellation within 14 days forfeits the deposit under Rental Agreement §2.2.
We confirm the delivery window by text. Clear the approved route, mark the placement corners and have the named representative ready when our truck arrives.
