Steamboat Springs is a Zone D delivery from our Gypsum yard: $950 each way, 89 road miles up Highway 131 to the Yampa Valley, inside the standard 2–4 week window. The route has no interstate pass, but most of its 89 miles are two-lane Highway 131, and the town carries the heaviest snow load of any town we deliver to except Vail, which decides more about the unit you pick than the distance does.

What does delivery to Steamboat Springs cost?

Delivery is $950 and pickup is $950, billed as two legs with nothing added for fuel or the season. The fee is the same for a 10 ft box and a 40 ft office, because the line pays for a truck day on a two-lane state highway.

The three Steamboat ZIPs, 80477, 80487 and 80488, all price in Zone D, so Old Town, the mountain base area and a ranch on the county road out toward the valley floor all show the same fee in the reserve flow. Addresses beyond those ZIPs, down the Yampa toward Hayden or over the pass toward the Front Range, stop at the delivery line and go to a written route quote before anything is charged; the delivery zones page explains how the zones are drawn.

Leadville and Grand Junction share Zone D at the same fee, and the Colorado hub lists every town with its mileage against its zone. The nearest Zone B town on the map is Vail, and the fee difference between the two is one truck day against half of one.

How does the truck get to Steamboat from Gypsum?

The route runs I-70 east to Wolcott, then Colorado Highway 131 north through State Bridge, Yampa and Oak Creek to US 40 a few miles south of town (Wikipedia). It is 89 miles with no interstate pass, but it is mostly two-lane, it follows the Colorado River canyon before it climbs onto the Yampa side, and it runs at truck speeds well below the interstate, which is why the town prices in Zone D rather than by straight-line distance.

The Front Range approach is US 40 over Rabbit Ears Pass at 9,426 ft (Wikipedia), and a yard east of the Divide crosses it on every trip. Our route does not, which is one of the reasons a Gypsum truck reaches Steamboat on winter days when the pass is chain-restricted. The I-70 stretch from Gypsum to Wolcott sits inside the section where CDOT requires commercial vehicles to carry chains from September 1 through May 31 (CDOT), and winter windows are set with weather days in them either way; the mountain delivery guide explains how a long-route delivery is planned.

Which office fits a Steamboat site?

Steamboat sits at about 6,900 ft (Wikipedia), lower than any Summit County town, but the snow that falls on the roof is heavier, and that is what puts the Alpine 20 ft office at $1,895/mo at the top of the list for anything that runs through the winter. Its standing-seam over-roof sheds snow, the covered entry deck keeps the door clear, and backup heat carries the coldest mornings in the valley, which holds cold air the way a bowl holds water.

The Base 20 ft office at $795/mo suits a powered lot on a summer-to-fall schedule, with mini-split heat and cooling, a 36-inch steel door, two barred slider windows and a 50-amp shore-power inlet; READY at $125/mo delivers it furnished and heated. A multifamily or housing site with a full crew takes the 40 ft office container with bathroom at $1,595/mo where a 100 ft straight approach exists, and the container office versus trailer comparison sets the two side by side for a valley that takes this much snow.

Ranch work is the Yampa Valley's own category. A barn, a bridge or an irrigation project on a parcel with no power and no signal takes the Grid-Free 20 ft office at $1,495/mo, which arrives with solar, a 10 kWh battery, Starlink and a camera built in; the off-grid and remote solution and the ranch solution cover the set-up.

Which storage container fits a Steamboat site?

The valley floor along US 40 and the base-area lots have the room that Summit County lots lack, and the 40 ft storage container at $425/mo on a 3-month minimum is the box for a multifamily job or a resort project with fixtures arriving ahead of the drywall. It needs a 100 ft straight approach and a firm pad, and it gives twice the floor of a 20 ft for one delivery fee.

The 20 ft storage container at $295/mo is the default for a single building, and the 10 ft at $225/mo and 12 ft at $325/mo serve the Old Town lots where an alley or two parking spaces is all the room there is. One-trip ISO steel and a welded lockbox are standard on every size; the theft answer covers what a base-area site with foot traffic should add, and WATCH at $129/mo puts a camera on the box itself.

Do you need a permit for a container in Steamboat Springs?

The Routt County Regional Building Department, at 136 6th Street, Suite 201 in Steamboat Springs, issues building permits for both the City of Steamboat Springs and unincorporated Routt County (Routt County Regional Building Department), so the permit desk is the same whether the site is downtown or on a county road. Zoning and land-use questions inside city limits, including whether a container or an office on your lot needs its own approval, go to the city's planning staff, and the county's planning department covers the unincorporated valley.

A unit serving a permitted project is usually treated as part of that project; a container on a bare lot or in a residential block is where a separate approval becomes likely. The Colorado permit answer lays out the questions to ask, and section 5.2 of the rental agreement makes the permits, HOA approvals and landlord consents yours to hold before the truck arrives.

How does a Steamboat winter treat the unit?

At 85 psf, Steamboat Springs' recommended ground snow load in the SEAC 2016 Colorado Design Snow Loads report is the second highest of any town we deliver to, above Breckenridge's 80 psf and behind only Vail's 90 psf (SEAC); the building official sets the value a permit is checked against. That is a ground load for designing buildings, not a rating for the roof of a rented container, and no such rating is published for any unit in the fleet; in Steamboat it is best read as the number of times a winter someone will be clearing. Our snow load guide shows the arithmetic and why the Alpine's over-roof and covered entry earn their price here more than anywhere else we deliver.

Keeping the roof, the solar panels, the doors and the access paths clear of snow and ice is the customer's job under section 7.4 of the agreement, and damage from letting it build up is one of the exclusions from the waiver in section 12.2. In a valley that can take several feet in a week, that is a scheduled task rather than an occasional one: assign it by name, keep the plow pile off the cargo doors and away from the temporary fence line, and read the winter office answer before the first storm.

A light tower at $1,250/mo puts four LED floodlights on a mast for the afternoons that end early, and a ground heater at $1,450/mo in season keeps footings and slabs moving; section 7.5 of the agreement puts the fuel for either on your side.

What does the truck need at a Steamboat site?

A straight approach, a level pad and a person on site. Section 5.2 of the agreement spells it out: 70 ft of straight run for a 20 ft unit or 100 ft for a 40 ft, ending at ground that is firm, level and drained, with any utilities below it located and marked, and your representative present to direct where the unit lands. The table above turns those requirements into the Steamboat sites we see most; the delivery space answer and the truck size answer show the truck and the footprint to scale.

Steamboat siteUsual approachFitsWatch for
Old Town lot or alleyShort, often under 70 ft10 ft or 12 ft box set from the sideOverhead lines, parked cars on delivery morning
Base-area or multifamily site100 ft or more on a graded pad40 ft storage, 40 ft office with bathroomSoft pad after spring melt, HOA and owner consents
Valley-floor commercial lotPaved, straight, levelAny unit in the fleetPlow piles that shorten the approach by February
Ranch parcel on a county roadLong but unpaved, sometimes with a gateGrid-Free office, 20 ft storageIrrigation ditches and culverts under the approach, gate width

Ranch approaches are the Steamboat-specific case: the road is long enough, but a culvert, an irrigation ditch or a gate narrower than the truck stops a delivery as surely as a short driveway does, and the slope answer and foundation answer cover the pad itself. A delivery that turns around at the gate is billed under section 5.3 for the trip out and again for the trip back, so walk the approach with the truck's turning radius in mind before you reserve.

How do you power and connect a Steamboat office?

There is one way into an office's electrical system, the 50-amp shore-power inlet on the wall, and section 7.2 of the agreement requires that a licensed electrician make that connection to code. On a ranch parcel the nearest transformer may be a mile away, which is why the Grid-Free office carries its own 10 kWh battery; the off-grid power answer explains what it will and will not run under a January inversion when the panels see little sun.

Connectivity on a ranch or a base-area lot comes from CONNECT, a Starlink dish and router at $259/mo on any storage container or office; POWER adds a solar array and battery at $399/mo, and the JOLT PACK combines WATCH, CONNECT and POWER for $699/mo. READY is a separate $125/mo line, not part of the Pack. On a ranch parcel with a two-year schedule, owning the dish can beat renting it, and the Starlink cost answer shows where the crossover falls.

What does a Steamboat rental cost, and how do you reserve?

Every invoice is the product-page rent, any recurring upgrades as their own lines, a 12% damage waiver and a 5% environmental fee figured on rent plus those upgrades, and Colorado sales tax at the rate for the job address; the first invoice also carries the $950 delivery leg and the last one the $950 pickup leg. Offices need 3 months and a $750 deposit that comes off the first invoice; storage containers need 1 month, or 3 for the 40 ft, and a $350 deposit. Fence rents at $3.50/LF/mo with a $500 deposit and installation and removal at $1.75 per linear foot each, and the events and festivals solution covers how the one-month minimum works for a weekend event on the valley floor.

The reserve flow takes the unit and one of the three Steamboat ZIPs and shows Zone D, the fee per leg and the deposit before payment; the availability badge on each product page is live and this page is not, so trust the badge. When a resort deadline moves up, JOLT Express sets a Base office within 7 business days for $750. Cancellation is free in writing more than 14 days before the window under section 2.2; pickup needs 15 days' written notice under section 16 and rent runs until the unit is collected; a rental that passes its first anniversary picks up 5% under section 3.4. How it works has the sequence and the pricing page has every number on one screen.

Questions contractors ask

What does delivery to Steamboat Springs cost?

Steamboat Springs is Zone D: $950 for delivery and $950 for pickup, 89 road miles from our Gypsum yard on our own truck. The fee is flat for every unit and every month of the year, and it is the same for Old Town, the mountain base and the valley floor.

Which way does the truck come?

I-70 east to Wolcott, then Colorado Highway 131 north through State Bridge, Yampa and Oak Creek to US 40 south of town. The route has no interstate pass on it, but it is 89 miles of mostly two-lane highway, which is why Steamboat prices in Zone D.

Who issues the permit for a container in Steamboat Springs?

The Routt County Regional Building Department at 136 6th Street, Suite 201, which issues building permits for both the City of Steamboat Springs and unincorporated Routt County. Zoning and land-use questions inside the city go to the city's planning staff.

Which office should a Steamboat site take?

The Alpine 20 ft office at $1,895/mo for anything that runs through the winter, because its standing-seam over-roof and covered entry deck are built for the heaviest snow in our territory; your crew still clears the unit under section 7.4. The Base at $795/mo suits a powered lot on a summer schedule, and the Grid-Free at $1,495/mo suits a ranch parcel with no service.

How much snow load does a container in Steamboat see?

The SEAC 2016 Colorado Design Snow Loads report lists Steamboat Springs at an 85 psf recommended ground snow load, the highest of any town we deliver to except Vail, with the local building official setting the code value. Keeping the roof, panels, doors and paths clear is your crew's job under section 7.4.

How fast can a unit reach Steamboat?

Standard delivery lands 2–4 weeks after you reserve, with weather days built into winter windows for Rabbit Ears and Gore Pass. JOLT Express shortens that to 7 business days for a Base 20 ft office only, for a one-time $750.

Can you deliver to a ranch outside town?

If the address carries a Steamboat Springs ZIP, 80477, 80487 or 80488, it prices in Zone D at $950 each way. Beyond those ZIPs the reserve flow stops at the delivery line and sends the request for a written route quote before anything is charged.

What does temporary fence cost for a Steamboat event or site?

$3.50 per linear foot per month for 6 ft by 10 ft galvanized panels, with installation at $1.75 per linear foot and removal at $1.75 per linear foot, on a $500 deposit. Panels sit on steel tube stands with clamps, so no post holes go into a park or a paved lot.
