What slows a Louisville job down

No power on day one

What it costs you

A rented generator, fuel runs and noise all day. Our estimate for a Base office run on a generator, with fuel runs, internet and a camera, is $2,308 a month.

What JOLT changes

Grid-Free carries roof solar, a 10 kWh battery, Starlink and a camera. The battery runs the heat and A/C. $1,495 a month. Nothing to refuel.

See the math

Too hot in July, too cold in January

What it costs you

Crews lose time warming up and cooling down in trucks.

What JOLT changes

Every office has a mini-split for heat and cooling. Grid-Free runs it from its own battery.

Tools that walk off at night

What it costs you

Equipment theft costs U.S. contractors an estimated $300 million to $1 billion a year (National Equipment Register and NICB). Most of it is never recovered.

What JOLT changes

One-trip steel storage with a welded lockbox. WATCH adds a solar LTE camera with motion alerts for $129 a month. It comes built in on Grid-Free and Alpine.

Nowhere to meet the owner or the inspector

What it costs you

Walkthroughs happen on a tailgate. Plans ride on a truck seat.

What JOLT changes

A clean, lit office with a plan table (READY), Starlink for plans, email and video calls, and your logo on the door.

Three offices. Pick the one your site needs.

Your name on the job

Owners, neighbors, inspectors and your next hire see the site every day. The office is the building they see.

BRAND puts your logo on two sides of the unit, 24 by 48 inches. $450, one time.

Offices from national chains carry the chain's name. A JOLT office carries yours.

Placing an office in Louisville

We help you plan the placement. Here is what Louisville asks for. Locate the Jefferson County parcel first. Then mark the private boundary, street edge and entry gate. Tell us whether the proposed room will be occupied daily. Put any separate tool storage on the same drawing. A Downtown block and an airport-controlled site present different questions. Ask the person managing the project who controls the intended space. Identify the current building phase and the expected office position. Bring that specific drawing to the relevant local desks.

On a private lot

Louisville Metro's Land Development Code page discusses zoning, form districts, parking, landscaping and site design. It also explains that some incorporated Jefferson County cities hold their own zoning authority. Check the municipality behind the Louisville mailing address. Ask its planning office about a construction office on the existing site plan. Describe occupied workspace separately from cargo storage. Show required parking, accessible spaces and the loading area. A rear drive may already serve building tenants. Ask whether a revised site plan is needed. Keep the planning reply with the parcel drawing.

The Kentucky department's 2018 Kentucky Building Code, fourth edition describes a uniform commercial code statewide. That code uses the 2015 International Building Code with Kentucky changes. Ask Louisville's appropriate building reviewer about the occupied office. Explain its planned electrical connection and operating period. If proposing the 40 ft bathroom office, describe that feature too. The reviewer can identify applicable building, electrical and plumbing approvals. Give Planning the same position and intended use. One desk's construction answer does not resolve another desk's land-use question.

For a Louisville commercial renovation, ask the leaseholder about staging rights. A landlord might control the rear parking spaces. Mark entrances used by existing tenants. Preserve the fire route and accessible approach on the drawing. On a residential driveway, ask the governing zoning office about district rules. Include setbacks, duration and HOA conditions in that request. Show the Louisville office your preferred spot for a local answer. Ask about screening before committing to a visible pad. Record the authority's name, parcel and approved position together.

At an airport-area Louisville assignment, speak with the project authority about the controlled work area. Ask that authority to mark its assigned laydown beyond the airport gate. Ask who approves the contractor's field-office position beyond that gate. Show any separate locked storage unit. A terminal phase may change the project's available working space. Find out whether the selected pad remains available as construction moves. For a Downtown conversion, confirm whether the proposed rear lane belongs to the parcel. A narrow block can hide a public boundary. Put that boundary on the drawing before choosing the office size.

On a street or sidewalk

Ask Louisville Metro Public Works about an office proposed for public space. Ask its staff where to direct a block-specific request. Show a stationary unit separately from a brief loading stop. Mark the sidewalk, curb, parking lane and pedestrian path. Include the intended dates and hours. Ask which current process applies to each proposed use. Ask the Louisville desk specifically about stationary container placement. Discuss the private-site construction permit with the building reviewer separately. Mark the street position as proposed while you await the desk's answer.

On a Downtown Louisville block, pedestrian access may run immediately beside a work enclosure. Show that path clearly to Public Works. Ask the building owner which portion of an alley it controls. A visible rear drive may serve another parcel. For a Jefferson County parcel outside Metro's zoning authority, confirm the road owner separately. Street control and zoning jurisdiction need not follow the same line. We can help describe the office's dimensions for the street inquiry. If the private position works instead, mark its own safe pedestrian entrance.

HOA and deed restrictions

Ask a Louisville residential HOA whether a visible office or tool box is allowed. Show the board the proposed exterior, position and period. A commercial landlord may require approval for a loading-area conversion. Ask that owner how tenants reach the building during work. Put any easement on the office sketch. Show whether the unit would narrow another property's access. Pair private consent with zoning and building answers. Ask Public Works separately about a Louisville public parking lane. Ask again if a later phase changes the approved location.

An Alpine office has matte-black cladding and cedar surrounds. Show its covered entry deck when asking about appearance and footprint. An HOA may care where that entry faces. A Louisville owner may prefer a smaller cargo box behind a screened area. The 10 ft walk-in storage unit suits a tighter approved space. Its man door and barred window need clear access. Check whether a tenant uses that space for daily parking. A landlord's answer can shape the office-and-storage layout.

Getting the site ready

Walk the Louisville position after rainfall. Firm, level, drained ground helps keep the Louisville entry usable. Check gates, low wires, trees and utility covers. Mark where the office door opens toward the work area. Measure the room for a 20 ft office against actual obstructions. Allow more uninterrupted length for the 40 ft bathroom office. Ask the property authority whether its bathroom connection needs site work. Draw the changing enclosure around a Downtown renovation. Keep the path usable after walls, paving or landscaping are finished. Assign one site contact to explain the chosen position.

Louisville tool storage can occupy a separately approved rectangle. For Louisville's small spaces, a 12 ft walk-in crib offers a barred window and man door. The 20 ft cargo-door unit locks with four bars and a welded lockbox. A Louisville 40 ft high-cube reaches 9 ft 6 in in height. Compare its profile with the actual entry clearance. Choose door direction with the neighboring trade's work in mind. Mark runoff away from any stored material. Ask where personnel can reach the office after wet weather.

Where Louisville temporary power is ready, Base uses a 50-amp shore-power inlet. Have the site electrician discuss the connection with the building reviewer. Base has mini-split heat and cooling. Where power is pending, Grid-Free needs no shore connection. It brings solar, Starlink and a WATCH camera. Describe the selected model in the Louisville permit inquiry. Its dimensions alone cannot tell Planning whether the proposed use is allowed.

Where JOLT fits best

A Louisville terminal contractor may need a document room and a locked material box. A Downtown conversion may need the same functions on a much smaller parcel. We can help compare office and storage footprints against each approved space. Start with who controls the site. Then decide whether the project has shore power. The 20 ft Base favors an established electrical connection. Grid-Free suits an approved position while power work continues. The bathroom office suits a longer approved pad and service plan. Separate unit choice from permission to occupy the land.

For a Louisville company planning successive jobs, 20 ft office purchase is another option. Lease-to-own applies to those 20 ft builds. Ask each Jefferson County property authority about its own office position. An approval at the airport cannot become Downtown sidewalk permission. A landlord's rear-drive answer cannot authorize an airport gate. Keep the construction phase and occupied workspace on each separate site sketch. We can discuss which storage size leaves room for daily circulation. Plan for two working doors when an office sits beside a crib.

Built for Louisville weather

NOAA's 1991–2020 Louisville International Airport normals give a July average high of 89.0 °F. Louisville's January average low is 27.8 °F. The airport records 48.34 inches of annual precipitation. Snowfall there averages 13.4 inches each year. Those station averages guide Louisville seasonal planning. Check the specific Jefferson County parcel for puddles. Walk the intended pad after rain. Look for runoff from grading and downspouts. Leave the office entry on a usable path. Ask the site supervisor where snow clearance will occur.

Base's mini-split heats and cools a powered Louisville workroom. In Grid-Free, a 10 kWh battery supplies the office HVAC. Louisville teams also get built-in roof solar, Starlink and WATCH. Sunlight and electrical load affect solar output at the Louisville pad. Louisville winter work may favor Alpine's backup heat. A standing-seam over-roof and covered deck accompany the Louisville Alpine build. Show that extra entry area to the property reviewer. An airport-area gate and a Downtown sidewalk need different walking plans. Both benefit from a firm, drained office position. Ask the building desk about the actual occupied installation.

Who rents JOLT offices in Louisville

Terminal renovation contractors

The airport authority's SDF Next page describes terminal work and security-checkpoint expansion. It names renovations at gates A8, B6 and B7. Ask the project authority where a contractor's office could stand. A Louisville terminal team might need drawings near its approved work area. Base works if the site has prepared shore power. A separate locked box can hold approved project materials. Ask the airport authority about access to your worksite. Keep that question with the manager for the actual assignment.

Airport infrastructure crews

The SDF Next program also describes airport infrastructure improvements. Such work can involve an owner-controlled staging parcel. Ask whether that parcel supports an occupied office. Mark the gate and the storage position on the authority's drawing. Grid-Free can serve an approved pad awaiting shore power. Its camera and Starlink are included. A 20 ft cargo-door box offers a separate place for tools. Choose both footprints with the airport project manager.

Downtown building-conversion teams

A Downtown Louisville renovation can leave little private ground beside its sidewalk. Ask the property owner about rear parking and alley rights. Show Metro Public Works any proposed public-lane use. An approved compact 10 ft crib can keep tools near work. A 20 ft office gives staff a separate plan room. Check that both doors remain accessible as the enclosure moves. Ask the building reviewer about the office's occupied use. Match the final layout to the specific Downtown parcel.

Jefferson County commercial remodelers

An incorporated Jefferson County city may use its own zoning authority, according to Louisville Metro. A remodel team should first name its actual municipality. Ask the landlord which parking and loading areas remain available. Base suits a site with an electrician-prepared connection. Grid-Free suits a different power schedule. A 12 ft crib can occupy a shorter approved tool position. Keep customer access separate from the workroom entry. Recheck the approved pad when the remodel changes phases.

Questions Louisville contractors ask

What comes in a JOLT office for a Louisville job?

Every 20 ft office has heat and A/C, lights, outlets, a vinyl-plank floor, a 36-inch steel door and two barred windows. Grid-Free adds roof solar, a 10 kWh battery, Starlink and a camera. Offices rent from $795 a month.

Can the office run before the site has power?

Yes. Grid-Free runs its heat and A/C, lights, outlets and Starlink from roof solar and a 10 kWh battery. Output depends on sun and load. It rents for $1,495 a month.

Can we put our logo on it?

Yes. BRAND applies your logo in 24 by 48 inch vinyl on two sides of the unit. $450, one time.

Do I need a permit for a jobsite office in Louisville?

Possibly; ask the planning and building offices responsible for the actual Jefferson County parcel. Louisville Metro's Land Development Code covers zoning, parking and site design, while some incorporated cities govern their own zoning. Describe the occupied office, proposed duration, bathroom if relevant, and electrical connection. We can help identify the footprint for that conversation.

Can the office sit on a Louisville street?

Possibly, with permission from the public authority controlling that Louisville block. Ask Louisville Metro Public Works about the current process for a proposed street or sidewalk position. Show the curb position, hours, pedestrian path and whether the office stays after unloading. Bring a separate sketch for a private parking alternative.

What does the site need before delivery?

A firm, level pad, a clear path for the truck, and a person on site to show the driver where it goes. Tell us about gates, slopes and overhead lines when you ask for the quote.

How much does delivery to Louisville cost?

Delivery to Louisville is quoted per project. We route the unit from the nearest JOLT source yard and send a written delivered quote within one business day. It holds for 14 days. Rent is published: offices from $795 a month, storage from $225.
