A conex box is a steel shipping container used for storage on a jobsite, ranch or business lot. JOLT rents four sizes, publishes every rent, deposit and Colorado delivery fee, and lets you reserve online without waiting for a sales call.

Which size should you rent?

  • 10 ft is for the tight spot: a driveway, an alley or a corner of a lot. It has a walk-in man door and a barred window on the long side, so you can step in for a tool without opening the cargo doors.
  • 12 ft has the same walk-in door and barred window with a little more floor. Crews use it as a lockable tool crib.
  • 20 ft is the everyday jobsite box. Standard height, cargo doors with four lock bars and a welded lockbox.
  • 40 ft is a high cube, 9 ft 6 in tall, with twice the floor of a 20 ft. One trip for a whole phase of materials.

The 20 ft storage container and 40 ft storage container pages show each box from every side.

Who rents a conex box?

Contractors keep lumber, tools and fixtures out of the weather between pours and framing days. Ranchers use one for feed, tack and fencing supplies far from the barn. Shops and warehouses rent one for a season of overflow stock, and homeowners park one in the driveway while a kitchen or basement is torn out. Event crews and schools store gear between seasons. The box is the same in every case: a steel shell, cargo doors and a welded lockbox that shields the padlock.

A rented box also leaves when the job ends. Written notice at least 15 days ahead books the pickup, and the truck takes the box away, so there is nothing to sell or store afterward.

Colorado and Mountain West delivery and pickup are priced per unit. Outside CO, WY, UT, ID and MT delivery is quoted per project. Rentals outside Colorado have a 12-month minimum.

Colorado is split into five zones measured from our yard in Gypsum, and the fee is the same for every address in a zone. Wyoming, Utah, Idaho and Montana share one fixed fee. Every other state in the lower 48 gets a written project quote within one business day, and the calculator on this page shows which applies to your ZIP.

Pickup costs the same as delivery and is prepaid on the first invoice, so the last bill has no surprise.

How long is the minimum term?

Inside Colorado the 10, 12 and 20 ft boxes rent for a one-month minimum and the 40 ft for three months. Outside Colorado every rental carries a 12-month minimum. After the minimum, rent continues month to month until you call for pickup.

How do you reserve?

Pick the size, enter the delivery address and choose a delivery week. A reservation deposit holds the box and counts toward the first invoice. Cancelling in writing more than 14 days before the window opens is free. The standard window is two to four weeks.

Before the truck comes, clear a firm, level, well-drained spot with a straight approach. The delivery access guide covers clearances and what to photograph.

Rent or buy?

Renting suits a job with an end date. If you need a box for years, or want to keep one on the property, compare with a purchase: we sell new, one-trip and used wind-and-watertight containers on the containers for sale page, quoted within one business day with delivery to your ZIP. Divide the purchase quote by the monthly rent above to see how many months of rent it takes to match.

Need an office too?

A conex box keeps materials dry and locked. If the crew also needs a heated, air-conditioned place to work, see the mobile office rental page. Offices and storage boxes can ride on the same reservation.
