Grid-Free jobsite office with roof solar, ready for a Tucson job

What slows a Tucson job down

No power on day one

What it costs you

A rented generator, fuel runs and noise all day. Our estimate for a Base office run on a generator, with fuel runs, internet and a camera, is $2,308 a month.

What JOLT changes

Grid-Free carries roof solar, a 10 kWh battery, Starlink and a camera. The battery runs the heat and A/C. $1,495 a month. Nothing to refuel.

See the math

A steel box with no cooling

What it costs you

An uncooled container gets hotter than the air outside. Crews retreat to idling trucks.

What JOLT changes

Every JOLT office has a mini-split. Grid-Free runs it from solar and a 10 kWh battery; output depends on sun and load.

Tools that walk off at night

What it costs you

Equipment theft costs U.S. contractors an estimated $300 million to $1 billion a year (National Equipment Register and NICB). Most of it is never recovered.

What JOLT changes

One-trip steel storage with a welded lockbox. WATCH adds a solar LTE camera with motion alerts for $129 a month. It comes built in on Grid-Free and Alpine.

Nowhere to meet the owner or the inspector

What it costs you

Walkthroughs happen on a tailgate. Plans ride on a truck seat.

What JOLT changes

A clean, lit office with a plan table (READY), Starlink for plans, email and video calls, and your logo on the door.

Three offices. Pick the one your site needs.

Your name on the job

Owners, neighbors, inspectors and your next hire see the site every day. The office is the building they see.

BRAND puts your logo on two sides of the unit, 24 by 48 inches. $450, one time.

Offices from national chains carry the chain's name. A JOLT office carries yours.

Placing an office in Tucson

We help you plan the placement. Here is what Tucson asks for. Identify the parcel before choosing a position. A Valencia Road staging lot differs from a neighborhood driveway. Describe the occupied use to Planning and Development Services. Show the office footprint on the owner's work drawing. Mark any separate box holding tools. We can compare sizes once the approved area is known. Keep the city's response with the current construction plan.

On a private lot

Ask Tucson Planning and Development Services about the building-code adoption information. Give its building official the office's proposed use and location. Explain how the site plans to supply power. Ask what occupied temporary-structure review applies. Keep the permit question distinct from zoning for an outdoor storage box. An I-10 project parcel may have its own authorized staging limits. Ask the owner to mark them on the drawing.

Tucson's portable-storage interpretation raises accessory-structure questions. Ask Planning whether it covers your particular box and district. Describe its size, intended storage use and planned position. Include any proposed move within the lot. A residential driveway may have different constraints from a construction yard. Ask about coverage, height and parking on the actual property. Give staff the parcel number, not only the cross streets. We can compare a walk-in crib with a larger lockbox after that discussion.

On a Valencia corridor site, mark the parcel boundary beside the work zone. Show where workers enter without crossing a materials area. Ask Planning about an occupied office separately from tools storage. Show fire staff the proposed access near existing buildings. Give the site electrician the Base office's power requirement. An I-10 contractor should ask the owner which land is approved for staging. A state road project does not itself decide zoning on an adjacent private lot. Keep the site plan current when the paving phase changes.

On a street or sidewalk

Tucson Transportation and Mobility publishes a traffic-control permit FAQ. Ask Traffic Engineering how that process treats the proposed city-street activity. Identify whether a stationary office or only an unloading stop affects the street. Show the sidewalk, alley and traffic lane on the plan. Give the desk the dates and unit dimensions. If the proposed curb use is unavailable, draw a permitted private alternative. A construction-site approval covers another area.

Along Valencia Road, construction entrances may change as widening progresses. Ask the city project contact which area remains available. On I-10, ask the state project's owner where staging is authorized. A Tucson street decision does not extend into state-highway space. Mark Park Avenue and the relevant project gate when discussing I-10 access. Ask who controls the specific road segment before assigning a pad. Keep roadwork activity separate from the occupied-unit location. For work outside Tucson city limits, identify that parcel's governing desk.

HOA and deed restrictions

On a Tucson house lot, ask the association about temporary storage appearance. Ask a commercial park about visible office and box positions. Get the landlord's written permission on leased ground. A private appearance answer differs from the city's occupied-use review. Show both decision-makers the same site drawing. Mark any easement that crosses a driveway. Ask whether required parking remains available beside the unit. A construction permit does not settle a property's private covenants.

At a Tucson design committee, show Alpine's cedar surrounds and matte-black mountain envelope. Include Alpine's covered entry deck on that Tucson placement drawing. Show that exterior to any Tucson design committee considering the site. Draw enough room for the covered entry within the authorized pad. Ask the owner whether the project needs that appearance. A private approval still leaves electrical and building questions for Planning and Development Services. If a driveway is too constrained, discuss another approved site position. Keep any association deadline with the construction plan.

Getting the site ready

Prepare a firm, level Tucson pad with drainage in mind. Mark it on the site plan supplied to reviewers. Show the gate and overhead obstructions nearby. Keep the approach free of changing material piles. Name the contact authorized to point out the selected spot. For a Valencia Road site, ask when grading alters the entrance. Arrange a 50-amp shore-power plan for Base. The 40 ft bathroom office also needs shore power. Keep the intended box position distinct from the office. Revisit both spots after a summer storm.

For a Tucson tool area, the 12 ft walk-in crib includes a man door and barred window. A 10 ft storage box suits a Tucson pad too short for a 20 ft. A 20 ft one-trip box brings four lock bars, cargo doors and a welded lockbox to Tucson work. At a different location, the 40 ft high-cube stands 9 ft 6 in tall. Give Tucson Planning the size of each actual unit. A narrow central-city lot calls for careful remaining access. Mark the 40 ft footprint before selecting it for a road project. Keep stormwater routes away from the chosen positions.

Where JOLT fits best

An extended Tucson road assignment needs a reliable place for plan work. A second authorized position can hold locked tools. We can discuss the office and storage box from the same fleet. For Tucson's road program, list each unit when speaking with the project desk. An I-10 interchange crew should ask for the owner's staging drawing. A Valencia Road crew may have a different private work parcel. Keep the office useful through subsequent project phases. Choose the box around the land still available after the office is placed.

ADOT's I-10 Kino-to-Country Club project includes interchange reconstruction. It also describes a new interchange at Country Club Road. Ask the project owner which staging area is approved. A Grid-Free office can serve a pad without shore power. A 20 ft storage box with a lockbox can define a separate materials position. Keep both outside the live roadway. Ask the I-10 owner for your crew's authorized location.

Tucson's Valencia Road project includes widening and drainage improvements. Work began in November 2024. A contractor can ask which portion of the corridor has a stable pad. Base suits a position with planned shore power. A 12 ft crib can fit a smaller approved tool area. Revisit the drawing when drainage work changes the approach. Ask the owner for the current construction phase.

Built for Tucson weather

The National Weather Service's 1991–2020 Tucson normals show a July average high of 100.2 °F. January's average low is 40.8 °F. The annual rainfall normal is 10.61 inches. July normally gets 2.21 inches of rain. June's normal is just 0.23 inch. A dry-looking June staging parcel can change during July storms. Mark runoff paths before placing the office. Check whether later Valencia grading changes those paths.

On a powered Tucson pad, Base offers mini-split heat and cooling. Ask the Valencia site electrician to plan for its 50-amp shore-power inlet. Show that connection on the Valencia utility drawing. On an I-10 staging lot without shore power, Grid-Free includes built-in solar. Its 10 kWh battery pack runs HVAC at that I-10 lot. Tucson solar output depends on sun and load. Grid-Free includes WATCH and CONNECT Starlink as well. Match the choice to the site's daily use and exposure.

For a Tucson position where appearance matters, Alpine has a covered entry. At a Tucson site, Alpine also adds backup heat and a standing-seam over-roof. Ask the property owner whether the exterior suits the project. For a larger permitted Valencia parcel, the 40 ft bathroom office offers an enclosed bathroom. Plan the Valencia utility connection around that office's mini-split and 50-amp inlet. Mark the extra length before finalizing the site plan. Ask the project owner about the needed utility arrangement.

Select Tucson storage with the monsoon walking route in mind. A 12 ft crib offers walk-in access on a compact pad. On a larger Tucson pad, the 20 ft box offers a welded lockbox and four lock bars. For even more area, a 40 ft high-cube offers twice the 20 ft unit's floor. Put each proposed box outside drainage channels. Ask the materials manager about weather-sensitive contents. Keep the access path usable after a storm. The local building official can advise on the actual parcel's occupied-office requirements.

Who rents JOLT offices in Tucson

I-10 interchange contractors

ADOT's Kino-to-Country Club project describes work east of Park Avenue. Its scope includes a rebuilt Kino Parkway interchange. A new Country Club Road interchange is planned. Ask the owner for the specific approved staging parcel. A Grid-Free office can support plan work without shore power. A separate 20 ft lockbox holds tools at an authorized position. Keep the office away from active traffic.

Valencia Road construction teams

The city's Valencia improvement page describes widening between Kolb and Houghton. It includes pedestrian, bicycle and drainage work. Its published summer contractor hours are project-specific. Ask the site manager about the actual daily access plan. Base suits a private position with power. A 12 ft walk-in crib can serve a smaller materials pad. Review both positions as the widening changes phases.

Central Tucson renovation crews

A central Tucson renovation can have limited land behind the curb. Ask Planning whether the occupied office fits the parcel. A 10 ft box may fit a smaller approved storage area. Base needs an electrician's planned shore connection. Ask Transportation and Mobility about any proposed curb activity. Keep the sidewalk clear around an active storefront. Discuss the worksite's actual duration with its owner. Mark both unit positions before asking for approvals.

Kino Sports Complex access crews

The I-10 project description includes a sports-complex undercrossing. It connects the north and south parts of Kino Sports Complex. Ask the project owner which approved parcel serves that work. A 20 ft office can support field coordination there. A 12 ft crib offers a distinct tool position. Choose Grid-Free if that pad lacks shore power. Keep public access outside the contractor's approved staging area.
