We help you plan the placement. Here is what Los Angeles asks for. Begin with the current worksite drawing. An active Wilshire excavation can change the available staging rectangle. A Valley work front may have a different entrance next month. Tell us which gate the contractor controls. Show where an occupied desk can remain during the job. Then mark the separate storage position if tools need a locked box. Check the land jurisdiction before approaching a permit desk. A Los Angeles mailing address can conceal a county parcel. The curb may also have a different controller from the job parcel. We can compare sizes against the actual available space.
On a private lot
For an occupied office, ask Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety about the site. Municipal Code section 91.106.1.1 discusses permits for buildings and structures. Its published text addresses a group of temporary structures on one site. Ask LADBS whether the active project permit can include your proposed office. Provide its planned position, occupied use and electrical connection. A bathroom office raises an additional plumbing question for the reviewing desk. Ask Planning about the site's zoning and accessory construction staging. Keep those responses with the current logistics drawing.
The California Building Standards Commission's Title 24 list identifies the 2025 code edition. It became effective January 1,2026. State adoption gives the LADBS conversation a code framework. It does not pick a lawful pad on Wilshire Boulevard. A box of locked tools and an occupied office serve different purposes. Ask the city about each proposed use. At a downtown conversion, include required parking on the drawing. Mark any fire access that crosses the possible pad. On a Valley infill lot, look ahead to the next excavation. A pad placed on a future trench is no lasting solution. We can compare a 10 ft box with a 20 ft box once available space is clear.
On a parcel at a city boundary, check the property line. Los Angeles County Public Works' container program covers county public right-of-way. Ask LA city staff about a city lot. A construction site can also have an entrance on another street. Tell each desk which street the work uses. Identify who owns the proposed staging parcel. Bring the owner into the office-placement conversation early. A submitted drawing should show the site as crews actually use it. Include the storage doors' access, not only the unit outline.
On a street or sidewalk
The city Bureau of Engineering permit service handles public-right-of-way questions. Ask its Development Services counter about the particular LA block. Explain whether the unit would stand at the curb. Explain separately whether unloading touches a sidewalk or parking lane. Show the position against pedestrian movement and the current construction zone. A busy Wilshire frontage may already have a detour. A downtown block may share a loading area with other tenants. Put those constraints on one drawing. Ask which street-use authorization applies and who submits it. An approved building pad behind the curb answers a different question.
For county frontage, consult the county temporary storage container program. Check the exact road segment before choosing that process. Identify the street authority from the actual Los Angeles frontage. On a Metro corridor, ask the project owner for the current street plan. Street restoration can move a lane or access point. Keep the office on an owner-approved work area. Show the public sidewalk as public space on the plan. We can discuss another private position if the proposed curb is unavailable.
HOA and deed restrictions
On an LA apartment remodel, ask the landlord about an office and tool box. A leased storefront lot may have a shared loading easement. Draw that easement before measuring a staging rectangle. Ask the property manager whether temporary occupation displaces a tenant's parking. A neighborhood association may review visible equipment. Show Alpine's matte-black finish and cedar surrounds if considering that build. Its covered entry occupies usable site area. Ask who approves an exterior facing a shared courtyard. Keep the owner's answer beside the city's land-use answer. Neither alone resolves the other.
Some Valley properties have multiple access gates. Ask the site owner which gate belongs to the construction operation. Ask whether another tenant needs the route overnight. A small storage unit may leave more of the driveway available. The 12 ft unit's man door and barred window suit a walk-in tool crib. A 20 ft cargo box offers a welded lockbox and four lock bars. Compare door access at the actual permitted spot. Keep access to utility equipment drawn on the same plan. If the owner revises the permitted position, return to the relevant city desk. An agreement about appearance cannot replace an occupied-office review.
Getting the site ready
Walk the Los Angeles entrance from street edge to proposed pad. Measure the unobstructed gate and turning area. Mark overhead utilities and any scaffolding. Identify a firm, level and drained resting position. Show the next phase's excavation limit. Keep neighboring doors, pedestrian routes and emergency access visible. Name a site contact familiar with the day's gate arrangement. A Wilshire project can change entrances during station work. A downtown conversion can lose staging space as permanent work advances. Update the drawing when the site changes. Plan for access at the end of the project as well.
For a powered LA site, Base has a 50-amp inlet. Its mini-split can heat and cool a Wilshire field desk. A site without shore power can consider Grid-Free. The 10 kWh battery runs its HVAC; solar output depends on sun and load. The build includes camera and Starlink. Draw a separate tool-storage position if crews need one. A 10 ft unit can fit a tight parcel. The 40 ft high-cube needs much more usable space. Ask LADBS about occupied office use before treating any approved storage pad as an office pad.
Where JOLT fits best
An extended Wilshire station contract needs a workroom beyond one street phase. A Valley corridor contractor may also need locked storage. Tell our project desk the intended office and box sizes. JOLT's fleet includes both choices for that Valley contract. Put both footprints on the contractor's approved logistics plan. Keep a stable private position if the public work lane changes. Ask the owner how crews reach the box every morning. A locked 20 ft storage unit has cargo doors and a welded lockbox. The office offers a place for site coordination. An approved staging area can keep both uses together without claiming the public curb.
On a powered downtown lot, Base handles a field desk. On an unpowered Valley worksite, Grid-Free requires no shore connection. Alpine adds backup heat and a covered entry. For a longer fixed parcel, the 40 ft bathroom office offers an enclosed bathroom. Ask LADBS how that occupied use and plumbing fit the site. Do not size the office from an aerial image alone. A constrained infill project might work better with a 20 ft office and smaller storage box. Show the superintendent the actual clear path around each. The job's next phase matters as much as its opening day.
Built for Los Angeles weather
NOAA's 1991–2020 LAX station normals report a July average high of 75.1°F. January's average low is 49.4°F. Monthly normal precipitation sums to 12.23 inches. January accounts for 2.86 inches; July averages 0.04 inch. Those LAX observations are not a Valley parcel forecast. Check where winter rain drains from your specific pad. Keep the office entrance and storage access off a low spot. Ask the site owner where runoff crosses the lot. Protect the route crews use to reach drawings each morning.
Base's mini-split gives a powered LA jobsite heat and cooling. Grid-Free adds solar and a battery that runs HVAC. Sun and load affect the available output. It also has built-in Starlink and a camera. Alpine keeps those features and adds a standing-seam over-roof. Its covered entry can suit an approved winter work area. Ask the owner whether its appearance suits the parcel. Ask LADBS about the occupied use after choosing the office. On a rainy Wilshire shift, plan a dry approach to the office. For tool storage, orient a cargo-door box toward an accessible aisle. Draw that aisle before materials arrive.
Who rents JOLT offices in Los Angeles
Wilshire subway contractors
Metro's D Line extension status identifies continuing Section 2 construction. It includes Beverly Hills and Century City stations. Metro's Section 3 work includes stations at UCLA and VA Hospital. Ask the project operator where a contractor office can sit. A 20 ft office can support coordination on an approved work parcel. A storage box can hold tools away from changing street work. The current staging drawing should show both footprints. Keep public pedestrian detours outside the proposed access. Grid-Free fits a work area still waiting for shore power.
Van Nuys Boulevard rail teams
Metro's East San Fernando Valley Light Rail follows Van Nuys Boulevard. Metro describes a 6.7-mile line with 11 stations. Its estimated completion is 2031. A contractor's staging rectangle can change as corridor work moves. Ask the project owner about the current authorized gate. Put a Base office where the site already has shore power. Consider Grid-Free if the approved parcel does not. Place a separate small storage box around the available aisle. Ask whether that position survives the next traffic phase.
Downtown conversion crews
Los Angeles City Planning's housing reports show a citywide housing pipeline. They do not identify an approved pad on any single parcel. For a downtown conversion, ask for its active site plan. A private loading court can have tight turns and shared users. Discuss an occupied office with LADBS before selecting the court. A 12 ft tool crib might preserve the remaining loading space. Its man door allows walk-in tool access. Ask the property manager where other tenants still need passage. Keep both office and box on the plan.
Residential and mixed-use remodels
An LA residential remodel may stage work beside required parking. Ask Planning about the proposed temporary construction use. Ask LADBS how a staffed office is classified. Give the owner a drawing with the office and storage positions. Base suits a site with a planned shore connection. A 10 ft storage box may fit where a 20 ft cannot. Check the actual sidewalk boundary before marking the pad. If the lot has an HOA, show its reviewer the proposed exterior. An occupied workroom, locked tool storage and public access are three separate site decisions.

Questions Los Angeles contractors ask
What comes in a JOLT office for a Los Angeles job?
Every 20 ft office has heat and A/C, lights, outlets, a vinyl-plank floor, a 36-inch steel door and two barred windows. Grid-Free adds roof solar, a 10 kWh battery, Starlink and a camera. Offices rent from $795 a month.
Can the office run before the site has power?
Yes. Grid-Free runs its heat and A/C, lights, outlets and Starlink from roof solar and a 10 kWh battery. Output depends on sun and load. It rents for $1,495 a month.
Can we put our logo on it?
Yes. BRAND applies your logo in 24 by 48 inch vinyl on two sides of the unit. $450, one time.
Do I need a permit for a jobsite office in Los Angeles?
Ask Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety about a permit for your occupied temporary office. Municipal Code section 91.106.1.1 discusses permits for buildings and structures, including groups of temporary structures on one site. Show LADBS the actual parcel, occupied use, utility plan and proposed duration. Planning can address that parcel's zoning separately.
Can the office sit on a Los Angeles street?
A Los Angeles street position needs review by the city's Bureau of Engineering. Its permit counter can identify the authorization for a stationary office or an unloading operation affecting the public right-of-way. Show the exact block, sidewalk clearance and proposed duration. County Public Works rules apply instead where the frontage is county right-of-way.
What does the site need before delivery?
A firm, level pad, a clear path for the truck, and a person on site to show the driver where it goes. Tell us about gates, slopes and overhead lines when you ask for the quote.
